Right before Christmas season my living room was one of them.
And it was also a "what was I thinking" moment.
And then something miraculous happened...my kids broke my green vases. Perfect excuse to go for a new theme! Most of this will be just switched around or upcycled. Here are my ideas
What I will be keeping with no changes:
West Elm frame
My two Pier 1 decorative frames
That small painting you see by those two green vases
That small bowl you see in front of the green vases
You can't see this but to the left there is a diy starburst mirror that will actually go up over my couch.
What will be upcycled:
The green awesome sign. That is actually a big piece of wood that is blank on the back. I am going to flip that around and do a painting. The painting will go where my starburst mirror is right now.
the frames with all the brightly colored paintings in them
What I will keep but will be moved to a different room:
Those three black shelves. They will look much nicer in our bedroom.
What I need to buy or diy:
Pillows, 3 decorative ones. Preferably these babies from Pier 1 and then a couple of plain ones to balance it out
a rug
some curtains
and maybe some decor stuff here and there..no idea what that is yet. but this is a series so work with me
And here is what I am working on so far!
The weird sparkly ball is actually something a gift came in. My friend bought me a perfume from Bath and Body Works and that is what it came in.
The tray and white candle holder is from West Elm.
The books are by Lauren Conrad and it is her LA Candy and Style.
The artichoke looking thing is something I made. The diy can be found at craft berry bush
I personally chose to skip the spray painting part because I want to put something like sequins (or something less glam) in the bottom and have it show through.
It's not even closed to finished. And if it were 100 percent up to me I would repaint this room. But hubby is against it since we are are preparing to finish this house up then move. He feels the more we change around paint colors instead of focusing on the things that need work the longer it will take to finish and be done with this place. Disappointing but makes sense.
Overall I do love it and can't wait to show you more pics as I finish!

I love making over a room - it can be tough but always worth it!
